BaoKu Liu, LAc, PhD, attended Changchun University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Changchun, China, and was awarded his degree in traditional Chinese medicine with concentration on orthopedics and sports injuries in 1988. After graduation, he worked in the Department of Soft Tissue Injury at the Jilin Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine where he specialized in spinal pathology. He also obtained a Doctorate degree in Chinese Medicine with a specialization in Acupuncture. He developed a number of unique acupuncture techniques, including Theory of Pathogenicity due to Scar Tissue, Scar Tissue Point (the pathological response of the point), Scar Tissue Acupuncture Release Technique (START), and Tuina & Massage Technique for  Fascia, Ligament, Tendon, Cartilage, and Bone Scar Tissue.
